RESPONSE TO HAITIAN CRISIS:

Haitian orphans are coming into the United States for adoption, but without the usual health screening or paperwork that allows them to be covered under their new parents' health insurance. The attached is information about necessary medical screening, health insurance coverage, and resources if you have further questions.

The AAP Friends of Children Fund responded to the disaster in Haiti by raisin over $90K in cash, sponsoring a truck with $10K in supplies and recruiting 600 members willing to go to Haiti and/or help with US-based medical services for evacuated Haitian children.
Recently, the US Congress passed legislation that allows donors who make a gift for disaster relief to benefit Haiti before March 1, 2010 to deduct such contributions on their 2009 federal taxes. Make your contributions at AAP Friends of Children Fund -- Disaster Relief.
