Welcome from WI AAP President Halim Hennes, MD

Welcome to the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics Web Page. (WI-AAP). The WI AAP is a organized group of over 700 pediatricians located across the state of Wisconsin. Our mission is to be sure that Wisconsin's children are safe and healthy and are growing up to be productive citizens. If you want to see how we can help you to do this in any way, click into the appropriate area on our web page for more information. Thank you for your visit.

What's New

  • CDC’s Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program
CDC’s Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program is committed to the Healthy People goal of eliminating elevated blood lead levels in children by 2010. CDC continues to assist state and local childhood lead poisoning prevention programs, to provide a scientific basis for policy decisions, and to ensure that health issues are addressed in decisions about housing and the environment.

  • Alert: Measles in Wisconsin
A message from our infectious Disease Committee Chair, Jim Conway. It now looks like we've hit the trifecta in Wisconsin - mumps(2005-6), measles and now rubella. Please be alert for patients with fever & rash, especially those who are underimmunized or with travel or other possible exposures. Remember that samples go to the state lab and not to commercial labs as both the turnaround and cost are far better.

Information from Wisconsin Health Department reviewing acceptible evidence for immune status for measles.

  • Board Member, Jeff Britton sends this link which provides instructions on how to sign up for emails that would be generated anytime there is action on a piece of legislation that you would like to follow. It’s called The Wisconsin Legislative Notification System and it allows anyone the opportunity to follow legislation by receiving daily or weekly emails for specific legislative activities. You can choose items by Proposal, Committee, Author or Subject and can select the activities for which you would like to receive notifications.
